BMW thanked their 2002 car ( late 60's-early 70's ) for saving the company, since it was a runaway success,

by taking out full page ads in better newspapers all over the world, with pictures of cars that were still being used,

on 2nd Feb 2002.

I had 11 of them.    Fabulous simple strong  design.

Most reliable vehicles I've ever owned.

Unfortunately, it all depends on the horrendous habit of putting a zero in front of a single digit month. I used to be a computer programmer and I know how easy it would be to add that zero behind the scenes, but suppress it from the display. For me, today's date is 2/2/2020.

You must have been Mike Macartney's best customer!

Sold my 02tii after 20 years custodianship a couple of years ago. It was my daily driver. Never let me down.

Nice.

I distinctly remember looking at my watch nearly 18 years ago at 20:02 on the 20th February 2002.  That was a triple palindrome in UK date format!

I remember the Beijing Olympics starting at 8:08pm on 08/08/08. That's also a palindrome.

Come to think of it, we should have asked for 02/02/2020 to be Brexit Date instead of the rather ordinary 31/01/20. (But I doubt somehow that EU would agree)

Actually that's not a palindrome as it doesn't read the same backwards as forwards.

It is if you include the 8:08pm bit ... (yes, I realised I was pushing it)

Yes.

Another interesting one is 16th August 1991 - expressed as 16/8/91, it reads exactly the same upside down

OK, yes I admit to being a sad git with too much time on his hands.

😀

But as a penny collector, you would pay a lot more money for dates having inverted ones though.

Yes, I paid a fortune for this 1961 penny with the date upside down.

About ten years ago I got all my spares together,  just under 2 tons in weight, and we had a sale on the lawn at Mike's house,

and what was left we sold to his daughter who had taken over the business.

I had some rare stuff in there - we had two cars turn up from Holland for the sale.....

Mike did a barbecue in the sun, and it was a great day.

Yes, it is a very rare variety but haven't you just posted a photo of an ordinary penny? Here is the only known example.

Unfortunately, in accordance with all the sad gits who insist August MUST be 08 and not 8, that won't work. 😄

It can be whichever way you want it to be.

The date is correct on this specimen, the coin itself is upside down....
