Lost/stolen coin collection in Gloucestershire

This article on the BBC website today - a coin collection found under a hedge on an allotment in Cirencester. Some lovely things in there, including a lot of gold. Police are trying to trace the owner, in case anybody knows anything?

Pity they don't list the contents with decent pictures because a combination of items in a particular grade would make tracing the owner much easier. Collectors often buy from only a few selected dealers, and with plenty of gold that will narrow down the options a lot.

Well, not EVERYTHING. Otherwise any TDorH could claim it based on the publicised list.

But any TDorH wouldn't have any proof of purchase for any of the items. It doesn't matter whether they came from a dealer or auction if records are kept.

Assuming there is proof of purchase? I have my database of coins saying when where and who sold them, but no receipts.

No doubt someone will recognise and claim them fairly soon.

If so, let's hope they don't shrub each other up the wrong way

I suppose after the hedge fund recipients have had their cut they can have a slap up meal with all the trimmings.

Yes, maybe it was a bit over the topiary. I'll start pruning back on what I say. Apologies for the shear outlandishness. .

Personally I prefer a ha-ha, buts that’s just my view.

Or is that too subtle?
