Firstly apoligies if I've stuck this in the wrong forum , if it is a variety it's likely already documented. Just wanted a second opinion as to whether it is an Un barred A or just general wear?. The first A in Britannia looks un barred.

I picked it up off eBay just listed as an ordinary W&M farthing.

It looks unbarred. As the A crossbar was added after the V had been punched in, this error can occur on any A in the legend. Whether a particular missing crossbar is documented is hit and miss. Also, they can be very weak, so any crud or corrosion, and the variety cannot be easily confirmed.

Thanks Rob. I thought it was. Had a look around online and i found a website with one that looks like a die match so that ties it up for me.
