Yes indeed - thanks Pete.

A nice 1877 narrow date penny, but beyond my price range at the moment. Nothing else much of interest.

C'mon Mike, sell your car, and with the money go for the Narrow date! 😂

If I were still collecting, I would be looking at the 1848 and 1854 sixpences.

The 1848 is the one I want.

I imagine you'll have some competition, but I doubt you'll ever see another in such high grade again.  Good luck.

I would expect competition but I think I have enough to see them off for this one.

I have submitted a fairly substantial bid for one of the lots. So, if you are there, would appreciate just keeping an eye on the bidding to ensure that it is all above board. I can give you the details in a PM if you do decide to go.

Expensive. No bargains to be had.

I got confirmation of my 'wins' from LCA.

I got the 1848 sixpence and the 1884 sixpence.

Went for £5,500, Bob.

Perhaps a little less than I expected.

I've seen about 6 of the different 1877 narrow dates, and the one at the LCA auction is by far the best one of all of them. I was going to bid on it, but felt it would get into 10k pounds, because of the condition, and that was more than I wanted to pay. I would bet money it went to Cardiff! He already has three of them! 😊

Below is the 1877 ND that I sold a few years ago. The one in the LCA Auction was in better condition, in my opinion, though mine went for more than twice the LCA price!

If I'd known in advance it was going to go for considerably less than five figures I'd have gone for it myself. Although with another bidder in the equation it might have pushed the bid to beyond my limit.

I suppose Cardiff's logic is that the more he possesses, the more the price each individual piece still remaining will command, as the rarity is increased considerably with each one removed from potential future sale.

Well done.  A tidy price, but I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run.

I did have a close look at this one in hand and it isn't that much better than the others plus it's got a nasty gouge on the queen's face. It's not as nice as the one you sold Bob.
