i have it down as john, 6b, confused by the mint moneyer, the mint starts with c, chichester ?   thanks in advance

John. Class 5b3. Rauf at Chichester . Notice the broken eye punches. 

Excellent find. A hard mint to crack. Great condition too. 👍

is that a known thing for the 5b3 chichester, the broken eye punches

It's all class 5b3 coins. A broken punch was used to create the dies. Once you notice it you'll always be able to definitely tie a coin down to a 5b3 even if other details are worn or missing.

is that just for chichester or all, the dies were made centrally and sent out tot he provincial mints ?

Yes sorry. It's all mints. I think the dies were made at London & Winchester .

Chichester was only operating for around a year 1205/06. That's why coins of that mint are rare.
