Help with Grade: 1857 Halfpenny

Recommended Posts

Your views on this coin would be much appreciated.

I may post a few more if you don't mind. I also have 2 x 1853 Halfpennies which leave me puzzled.

I am no expert grader, so wait and see what others give before you accept a final answer.

I would give Good Fine (F+) to the reverse, but Fine (F) to the obverse because of the surface porosity. That is grading UK standards - US grades would be higher.

Good fine from me too , there is some water damage (?) and  coin would be nvf without it .

Using Dave's grading book as a guide. I would say AVF on the Obverse, and VF on the Reverse. This is not reducing the grading for any porosity, etc. It is a petty nice coin overall. A dealer would mark the coin as VF overall, and would reduce the pricing for any porosity, etc. IMO...
