South Africa 1924 Sovereign

I believe this one is hard to get and expensive and one has come up through a good dealer for $19,000AUD.

I also looked at the mintage and its a lot higher than the 1923 proof.

Can anyone advise why the 1924 should be at a premium?

Is it a proof? In any case, while the mintage is higher than the 1923 and it is still a very low mintage sovereign (a couple of thousand from memory).

Mintage does not reflect numbers released, or more importantly how many available to collector market....
