Uncertain half penny i.d help

Recommended Posts

Completely shot half penny sized coin.

Looks like  uncrowned Charles I with the Irish harp on rev.

Thanks for any help with i.d.

From memory I'm sure that there is a Dublin halfpenny token with Shakespeare's head obverse and Irish harp reverse, and this could be it.

There's nothing to match in D&H, but Davis Dublin 17 onward (p.214-222), mostly have a crowned harp. There is a number (dozens) of legend varieties/number of pearls to crown/laurel leaf pointings which are rendered irrelevant by the condition of the object above. The dates are approx. 1800-1822.

Thanks so much Richard.

Its really good to see what the token would have looked like. Didn't think it would be from Wales.
