Hello all. I've just stumbled onto your site after 2 days of googling for rare coins!! I've been looking out for the 50p, £1 and £2 oddities for about 6 months, just as a passing interest.

Anyway, got a what I thought was a dirty 10p in my change. It turns out its a 2p piece with 2/3s of the head side silver coloured. The tails side is normal copper coloured with a hint of silver on the lion. Its dated 2008, the first year the shield segments were introduced on the tails side.

Let us know what you think....meaning is it worth anything! Cheers all

Hello there, all one and two penny coins minted from 1992 onwards are copper plated steel and the coin you have is a standard two pence which is missing it's full coat of copper. I have an example of a penny in my collection which has no copper coating at all. Hope this helps
