The song itself is obviously writen by townshend about roger and you can almost feel the love-hate relationship they had at the time   , fights and squables onstage marred many concerts in the 1973- 1976 period in fact it was a real surprise they stayed together  at all

My mate Gabbie Connelly was the bass player before they made it. He married Jackie and she persuaded him that becoming a milkman had better long term prospects. The Daily Mirror did a centre page spread on him around 20 years ago.

Eh? The Detours were Roger and John Entwistle, and later they persuaded Pete Townshend to join as guitarist. The drummer was Doug Sandom, and there was a temporary vocalist before Roger abandoned guitar  and took up vocal duties. Later they sacked Doug, recruited Moonie, changed their name to The Who and the rest is history. There's never been a Gabbie Connelly.

Don't kid a Who fan!

Quote from Wikipedia ' Dawson left after frequently arguing with Daltrey[7] and after being briefly replaced by Gabby Connolly, Daltrey moved to lead vocals.' Of course, Wiki may be wrong.

The early days of The Detours maybe, but that's not the same as The Who. Let's face it, how many of The Quarrymen can you name apart from John Lennon and Paul McCartney?
