Help needed with date.

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I have this Charles II Halfpenny. Every letter on it is legible except the date which is kind of worn on it. I think it says 1674?? Maybe not. Is it worthless?

Its a farthing, so could be 1674, but I think I may see hint of a 3 to the right in the exergue. The date run is: 1671 (pattern, this has a stop after Carolo and the 'loose drapery' reverse, so its not that.) /1672/1673/1674/1675/1679.

The date run for the halfpenny is: 1672/1673/1675.

Even not knowing the size I can see by the designs of the portrait and of Britannia that yours is a farthing but, being honest, whatever the date, in that condition I wouldn't worry about it. :)
