Hi.

I.m just new to the forum and would like some advice on an 1887 Queen Victoria Double Florin. Do any members know if there are any counterfeits of these coins?  The lace veil on the head seems to lift at the front. Any input would be very much appreciated.

Are you talking about that gap between the lace and the hair? Part of the normal design - see here:

You could also get a larger gap than normal as a result of a weak strike or from die refurbishment if the fields were polished.

Thank you both for your help.Yes it was the gap between the lace and the hair. I noticed a few i researched on ebay looked like the lace was attached. As Rob says, maybe a weak strike? The centre of the reverse also looked wrong with the outside edge of the cross not prominent and a mark in the cross. Again maybe a weak strike?
