Hi, i have come across an 1887 shilling with an unusual reverse side. it has what looks like an oar across it.  i have searched the internet and found nothing like it anywhere.  that side was unfortunately covered with a black and green tar like substance which has been  very difficult to remove. any help will be appreciated.

Looks like a pin was soldered on the back to wear it as a brooch/badge
