Selling an Error Coin

Recommended Posts

Hi,

The other day I had realised that I had obtained an error 2013 50p coin where not only is the coin a downturn but also that the queen's mouth is upside down (frowning). I have a holiday coming up soon so I am intending on selling the coin so that I can get some more spending money. What would the value be on this coin and how would I be able to promote the sale of this coin, if it does have some value?

Thanks! I have attached pictures of the coin.23wXnEx.jpg

Not sure what you mean when you say the coin is a 'downturn', but I wouldn't get your hopes up. There are a few die faults giving rise to warts and the like which don't add much, if anything, to the value.

Hi welcome to the forum. What do you mean by downturn?

Also I wouldn't get too excited, there a plethora of error coins out there with little defects like this and they don't sell for a lot.

I use downturn to indicate how the back of the queen's mouth is sharply pointing downwards and is highly visible. I've done some research and apparently downturn coins can get a decent value depending on how long you wait, due to the mint pulling them from circulation.

There's a reason for that. Just spend it. ;)
