RIP Chet Krause

Recommended Posts

Sad to see that Chet Krause has died, see http://secure.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=28265

I bought an early version of his World Coins back in 1979, a tremendous leap forward compared to the books I had relied on in the local reference libraries when I was a kid - (we didn't have Google back then)

The Krause guides are still my first step when trying to identify an unknown foreign type, though I always take pricing with a pinch of salt

:(

RIP Chet Krause.

A sad loss to the numismatic community, but at least he was a good age.

Long and careful study of his 1981 edition of World Coins is what led me to focus on collecting on British bronze pennies... and later on to some other British Commonwealth series.

I remain grateful to him and his work.
