Well I bid on the Freeman 74, 1874H proof. I'll be interested to see the result tomorrow. I bet I've lost out though.

I had a great day,  got the N over N sideways, lcw under foot, nice  4F,  E over P and lots of lesser coins, and paid over the odds for the books but I wanted the Jerrams volumes.  Also bought the 1879 with the 'shuttle' above the lighthouse .

Great to meet Richard, pretty in pink,  sad not to see Pete but Semra said he had not turned up.

Nice lunch in Spoonies between the penny sections.

And hot chocolate in Starbucks on the way home.  Perfect day.

£280. Not particularly unreasonable but more than I'd be willing to pay.

Not the end of the world if I don't get it. From the thin pickings of the past couple years, sellers have now come out of the woodwork in droves. Lots of decent material about this year. Hopefully too much to keep prices inflated. You just have to look at what's in DNW & Spink and what has just been through LCA and the US to see an improvement in supply.

Actually the one I got was also at my max. If someone in the room bid the same does that mean I might not have won it then?

If someone in the room bid it should be yours, but if someone put in a commission bid at the same max before you it should be theirs

I was wondering that. I've 'won' five but four are at my max so not sure if I've really won them or lost out to someone in the room?
