Treble Struck Louis xv?

I think I can make out three strikes on this 1729 Louis.

Can anyone here make anything out?

Cool! Yes, I think three strikes .. plus a bit if encrustation. I wonder how much they circulated for in England?

Would they have circulated in England or would it only have been used in trade with the continent? I suspect a lot of foreign coinage would have ended up in the drink at all our major ports, one way or another.

Quite right! All those sailors getting in and out of boats coming back from shore leave, three sheets to the wind.
