    TOY COINS

Yes I did start off with sets and boxes but then it just grew organically. Ironically I did not want to start with the most obvious lauer British as Rogers did in his book. Really a website should be the best option but I would not know how to grow and manage it. I think the field is lacking a good update and I know Kai was thinking of writing it for Galata books.

    TOY COINS

I am excited to hear you have so many of the onions I would love to see them side by side too. I have been trying to collect them but I suspect I shall not now continue. My collection is too broad a church and eventually have to decide what I can and can't collect. I'm happy there are some full sets around . Amazing really that they must have once been quite common in schools.

Royal Mint quality control (or the lack of)

I am still somewhat surprised that I have a piedfort proof kew gardens 50p with a great sliver of silver sticking off the edge it is not as if it is microscopic being about 4 mm long and 1 mm high. I am going to assume it is an error minting and so may be more valuable , but as more and more mistakes are made perhaps I am assuming wrongly.

    Halfcrown list

I am not sure it seems to be on all of them something has been done at least with 3 errors I think perhaps my thought something put on backwards or rotated . It still has me confused after 5 years 😅

Yes the 4th is the same by mistake

    Halfcrown list

I thought I had two others but seems I only have 3 the 4th seems to have been marked up wrong which might man it is in another envelope or it may be that one is still in the US . Whether or not these new images help I am not sure but there are the three examples one about EF one VF and the other F . Personally I cannot make any sense of some of the protrusions above unless a letter has been rotated but even then some of the angles seem just to be "wrong" and correspond to nothing else nor the piece that comes out from the central section of the E . I have only ever thought of it as an understruck R with the weight on the upper section because there is no negative space in the lower section to see if it is an R or a B ... Obviously there is a lot going on and it is a busy error ! as far as I am aware 5 maybe are known one was listed in a London coins sale I believe prior to my asking the forum back in 2018

  18. Could I ask if anyone else has any 1861 1 to the side of 1 in date pennies? I have three but I would say the position of the 1 to the left of the last 1 varies two show the 1 distinctly to the left by 1mm or so and one other which shows the 1 high and to the left . This one seems to be the BP 1861 Ka -(J =d) as noted by M Goulby the first I mentioned which does not touch the fully stamped 1. Each one of the latter 2 examples seem subtly different , both however have the 6 over a 6 and it appears to be a reverse F , in BP 1861 Ka the 6 is fat but there is no evidence of the 6 being over a pre-existing 6. the LCW exists on the one listed by Goulby and the other 2 I have no LCW the rock appears to the left of the shield Could those who have them please take a look . Many thanks

    Halfcrown list

yes I think I asked questions of the forum back in 2018 there are some images posted there I will have to check but I think I have another since then , I didn't add to the post further E over R DEF 1817 Halfcrown By DrLarry, May 18, 2018 in Confirmed unlisted Varieties.
  20. I would be grateful for some help with the error of an E over an R in DEF in the 1817 half crown please. I understand there are a few errors in the 1817 half crown but I cannot find any reference for this one it appears in the two specimens I have found to be a triple error E/E but also E/R. THe E over R in DEI is recognised on the obverse I have three specimens I have collected but I would be interested if anyone collects GIII half crowns if they could let me know your thoughts...many thanks
