    Struggle to sell piedforts

I think a lot depends.on what they are and how much you are asking for them. I listed around a dozen on here and 4 sold very quickly most likely because the buyer was collecting the "theme" Chris (forum owner) has a Facebook group dedicated to decimal where you could try or preloved or gumtree (that's where I sold the rest of mine)
  2. A few more dealers/sellers should take a leaf out of your book. At least I know what to expect if I buy from you.
  3. Yes but which one is going to look more like the real thing when in my hand? That is the big question for me. And for the record your photos are a good representation of the coins on your site

Realistic or unrealistic auction site prices

    damn beat me to it
  5. And he also says "take a look at the photographs and see for yourself" Not quite the same as the photos Nordle posted As you may know I am a beginner and I did not know this until around a week ago (thanks to this forum ) Both books I have that came recommended to me, CCGB and David Groom Bronze Coinage do not mention that the '34 is a mint toned coin. (I will be getting the new Freeman book when it is out) I am not knocking the seller whatsoever. They have a fantastic feedback rating of 100%. My gripe is regarding photos in general and the "cover all" statements of "look for yourself" etc. that is very common on most ebay auctions. If you are selling a coin at least show a decent photo that resemble the actual colour/tone, call it what you will, of coin for sale. I know a little about photography (I am no expert by any means) but at least my own photos look like the coins I have. Read up about things like lighting and white balance to suit the lighting you have etc etc. As an example take a look at the Copthorne Collection photos on Colin Cooke site and then take a look at the Vendors photos on his site.
  6. You will have to put in a good bid though Jon if you want it. I'm thinking of putting a tenner for that 1967
  7. Slowly going through them making a short list. Will be leaving the rare ones for you lot
  8. Thanks Pete Never took part on this type of auction before so wanted to be sure
  9. On the subject of bids does it work along the lines of eBay ie Low reserve is say £200 . Lot has no bids so I put down £250. Lot stays at £200 until another bidder joins in and beats my £250?
  10. I have said before its all well and good when a seller says look at the photos and judge for yourself . At least show a photo that resembles the tone/colour of the coin. I have viewed many of this sellers coins and yet to make a purchase but having seen this will have to think twice now.
