The coin is a Edward II penny struck in Bury St Edmund class 11b1 from Robin J. Eaglen collection ( lot 641 from last September DNW auction ) ... When I return home I 'll post a photo ... -
As you know the prices of coins are determined by the equilibrium of supply and demand ... The supply is more or less the same in the years while the demand , especially with the invention of internet, is increased a lot . So I think in addition to inflation what has determined the increase of prices is that in the past only few people could have the possibility to have a coin collection.

Happy birthday ! Buon Compleanno !! -
Indeed. Beautiful coins. Yes , beautiful coins . I've never seen agnus dei on coins of this period ... Usually is on coins struck during the 14-15th centuries .
-
iPost the other face .... Try to cut the images, we don't need your hand ! Regards, Matteo
-
Great news !!! Is Agnus Dei in the second photo ?
-
I see the same face of coin in both photos

Yes , you are right . I remember the auction , there were some of this coins in very low conservation .... some were interesting but prices were quite high.
-
The conservation is not perfect but for this type it is quite good

Arrived this morning from last Gorny Morsh auction ... Mytilene or Metelin Francesco II Gattilusio ( sold as Francesco I but new studies have attributed this coin to Francesco II )
-
yes , a photo of the coin slabbed could be the proof that the coin is original
-
I honestly hate slabbed coins so , I think it is an other element for remove the box. :) Seriously I don't see any other alternatives ... If you needed the proof that it's not a fake now you have it .. Take a picture of the coin slabbed to cofirm that is the same coin before remove the slab.

I've controlled on Spink ' s Coins of England and I have to say that the portrait is very similar to Aethelred's ( especially in type 1151 ) , but others elements are different .. Your coin has a easier style , the cross is very simple and legends are shorter than normal coins .. in my little , I think that the idea of an imitation could be right ... It is a very interesting coin

Hi all In the italian forum lamoneta.it there is an interesting where a member asked us if we know why the sovereigns minted between 1985 and 1997 ( exept 1989 ) have been struck only in proof version ... Honestly none of us know the answer ( I try to see on the Marsh's book but I didn't find anything ) so Is there some member who know it ? Thanks Matteo

V.E. III's coins are the most falsificate in Italy because there are a lot of collectors and in genaral have high prices .. However It's strange because this coin is rare but not too muchu
