Let's See Your Toned English Milled Silver!
Nonmortuus replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Happy to try and help. I spoke with @Paulus for a number of hours in then past about this. I use black neoprene as the back ground as its chemically inert. I use a desk mounted day light led lamp I use from another hobby (28mm war gaming) as the light source. I have my DSLR camera on a tripod with a macro lens. I then place the neoprene on a wooden block cut at an angle that allows me to position the light source directly over the coin but leave the coin flat in relation to the camera lens. I usually take 4 or 5 shots of each side and decide which is the best before cropping them down and joining them. -
Yes it was all over the facebook groups as news broke.... be interesting to see what the defence will say!

Nonmortuus replied to 1949threepence's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
The machines are so expensive as there is a global shortage of chips at the moment so GPUs with a RRP of say 500 are commanding prices well in excess of that. I asked how do you mean as in, do you mean how do they mine or why a GPU heavy rig. Check out the Bitcoin video the BBC made. BBC Bitcoin -

How do you mean? If your on about how they mine then rigs like this are GPU heavy as modern graphics cards are far better at mining crytpo. The more transactions the can handle/solve/mine the more chance they will earn some crypto. -
