Enamel Removal
Nonmortuus replied to DaveG38's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
From what I have read, depending on the base metal it seems a furnace with the coin suspended in it will see the enamel melt and run off the coin. Obviously you would need to check the melt point of the enamel against the coin it sits on -
If you want to sell the Sovereign use the sovereign group on facebook. You will get more than from the gold brokers, lower grade sovs sell for £230 up on there at the moment.
-
I can recommend a few trusted sellers on Facebook as well who only deal in sovereign's and are often below the bullion by post prices only being a few points above spot for moden bullion.

Thanks @Chingford, I am not unhappy just concerned it may lead to corrosion etc but if they are inert then I am fine. I believe he has sold them all now but this is an upgrade.

Beware the Slabs, Today's Story of the 1845 1/2 Crown
Nonmortuus replied to VickySilver's topic in TPG Discussions
They have some cracking coins for sure but the prices asked are crazy for people like me at the lower end of the budget scale, for even the most common dates and coins. I have them as a favourite seller but everything is either out of reach price wise or available in similar grades raw in the UK at a fraction of the price. -

Is that number correct VS? PCGS are asking for a 7 or 8 digit code. -
I don't have one but have been reading up a little as I have a couple of permissions in places all ready to go. The names that seem to keep popping up are the: Golden Mask, http://thrace-detectors.com/product/277/golden-mask-5.html XP Deus, http://regton.com/xp-deus-metal-detector.html And Garret Ace 400i http://regton.com/garrett-ace-400i-metal-detector.html I don't have any experience with any of them, so please read up yourself. However those are the names that keep popping up when people ask about which detectors to go for.
-
I only know of 3 or 4 metal detector shops but none in central London sorry. I'm sure there is why I just don't know where. Regton are based in Birmingham and have both on online and walk in store. http://regton.com
