How fast will verdigris spread on slabbed silver coins
Nonmortuus replied to youliveyoulean's topic in Free for all
Rather than start a new thread I thought I would post here. I have a German Mark that is slabbed by PCGS that has the slightest pin prick of Verd on the reverse. It is not a high value coin being a 1914 D but would you break it out and treat it or leave it in the slab and see how it develops? -
I will take one please Pete. I will send the payment over tonight.

So, as you all know from the repeated question threads I am only just getitng into this so I am bound to make some major cock ups along the way but I thought I would share the odd bits and pieces I pick up as I go along. I would welcome any comments regarding grades etc The more you guys comment the more I learn. I plan to add pics as and when I get the coins. Thanks Non

I would loved to order an AT Pro but it was out of my price range. Hopefully the 400i will be good enough for all bar sea water. I have my insurances in places and 2 small permissions but need to join the local club

I took the plunge and ordered a Garrett 400i today.... lets see how many shotgun shells I can find

Still a LOT to learn but you guys are helping me all the time -
I am on the brink of making the jump and getting a Garrett 400i. I have a few small permissions in place (about 10 acres all in) but I am hoping I can gain the trust of a few farmers once I have got some feedback from these land owners to get me on 1 or 2 bigger permissions.

Exactly what Rob said. If you are not happy ask for a return and refund or alternatively ask to change the item for something you do want? -

I have been messing around with lighting lately, this 1918 I picked up a few weeks ago and it lit by a single daylight bulb lamp from the top of the coin trying to get the light source as far over the coin without blocking the lens.

Some recent additions, I do like the Half crown and the Groat looks much better in hand. Again none really qualify for coin of the week but the Groat means 1 more box ticked for now. The shilling is currently in a dodgy NNC slab but I intend to break it out ASAP. -
Rare Groats Setting Records at DNW Today
Nonmortuus replied to VickySilver's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Not in the same league as Rob or Vicky but I picked up a couple of groats as well, an upgrade and a gap filled. -
Congratulations

That's a dodgy address. Kingfisher walk is in the King Fisher shopping centre and there are no dealers in there. B97 is Redditch but that postcode is dodgy.

I agree its a nightmare, I use the ebay guide from @AJWcoins (thanks Andrew!) as a rough guide when comparing the Sheldon scale to LCGS and British grading. As I said the main reason was it was a nice strike on the obverse, if it had less bag marks I would be happier but out of the 5 1914's I own it has the most fully struck ear. -

Hi Ian. NGC have it as MS63. It does have some bag marks etc but it has one of the best ears I have seen on a 1914 Obverse to date which is why I took the plunge on it ? -
