    Grading a folder coin

you will hear auctions often quote UNC with some cabinet friction. We had this discussion what constitutes wear and what doesn't. Some people say wear is wear and that's the long and tall of it. to me if a coin has been in circulation then yes that applies even if the wear is minute. But if a coin is UNC and never seen a pocket or a till draw and has been in a flip for years and has a tiny friction mark due to pressure from the flip to me it is still unc and should designated so with that statement of storage friction applied. Some say how can you tell friction from minute wear. Simple answer is if a coin has never been in circulation it will for the most part be unmarked or very few contact marks from production. Circulated coins could never escape much heavier marks even if only exposed for a short time. So unless the storage process suspends the coin from contact either side from any other material all coins will receive some degree of friction even in a tray.
  12. I have stuff from the states from other sites and never have a problem most charge cheaper than I can send it to them for silly money like $4. This is ebay global shipping program not following customs rules properly . Shame as the coins was quite nice and you don't get many 1902 Half crowns for £56. Even though that is probably the correct value seeing as they are over valued but it is an iconic coin so perhaps not Awaiting an email from ebay specialist team lmao. "I am trying to find the best resolution to your problem" to which I replied "It is very simple charge the correct lawful import tax of 5% which is levied upon coins"
  13. Well I am within my rights to refuse payment. they are overcharging me and I am not accepting it. Numismatics items should be sent on customs form 9705000000 and clearly states it should be at the rate of 5% . what is happening is the idiots employed at the GSP ignore the reference number and put in a standard export number that covers everything else not covered in specialised items . I would of swallowed the $27 but $41 they can go swing for it. Do the job properly or not at all. this is ebay' fault not the sender and when I wanted to contact them clicked on the icon. Guess what? yup this page is no longer available or has been removed. I hate the place really hate it. It needs closing down
  14. Won a bid on 1902 half crown.£56 global shipping program postage $17 which states no added import tax . Bill comes with added $18.96 import duty. So I have politely asked for the added charges to be withdrawn or charge at the correct rate of 5% and not 35% what they are trying to charge me or they can shove it where the sun don't shine. Really angers me. This is the main reason I won't buy from the states. Even when you think you are covered you' re not total was $75 inc shipping $116 talk about taking the piss. Ebay will not scam me crooked bunch of scum

Lmao yes or if it was the pound version in gold getting it stuck in the trolley hire. I would camp out till it was free. No in fact I would load the tolley in the car myself and sort it at home. This is where you have to be wary of children with seemingly good intentions running amok . "you said the other day you had no change for the trolley" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lol

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Bit of a clue mate it says Brunel not naffin lincoln lmao priceless
  18. I'm ok with gadgets I have a gaming PC and most of my stuff is wireless or health risk being garotted by wires could ensue many a time I have got up and forgot my headphones were jacked in almost whiplashed myself lol. it's just the sodding printer that will not play ball. Plus I don't like windows 10 taking over the pc and arranging things in some god forsaken order best known to themselves without my permission . If I had wanted every coin to be out of order in denomination and country I can do that myself. Now it has rearranged the folders and some have just gone after the last update the Austria folder has gone and not even on the PC. So all those hundreds of pictures were a waste of time. No wonder Gates has naffed off and gone in to crypto currency he has seen the shortcomings of microsoft and jumped ship.

    you say Paradole ?

As the title suggests but I think in this case there is more than a fleeting resemblance to Robin Williams R.I.P . If it wasn't for it being a real coin from Jamaica I would of put my life on it being his portrait.
  20. Printer I gave up. I have had lots of printers and it was just so simple plug in run the test and you're good to go. Now the printer gets split in to two parts and online printer and a static printer that prints from info on the pc . Why do this? . I bought 5 brand new printers the all in one HP as thats what my old PC was . All of them were useless. None worked had to send them back as they had faults. One kept telling me I had a paper jam when there wasn't any paper in it lol. One I had to download drivers from a completely different model to get it to work . For it to just stop working altogether. I have one on my pc now I have never used and it is brand new just refuses to print. I should of sent it back but I had reached boiling point by then and injury was looking for a home . So I have lost the will with printers now that they have made them far too techy.

There is also a mule Gold 1994 K4a 300th Anniversary of the bank of England £2 coin apparently 800 or so were struck without 2 pound in the legend because the normal george and dragon 2 pound gold obverse was used by mistake. The RM sent letters out to all who purchased the coins asking for them to be returned as they were not legal tender and would be replaced by the correct coin to keep the mintage figure true. So far 217 remain in collections. I was surprised anyone would send them back? Legal tender hogwash of an excuse. Gold has been the major real currency of the world for millennia so despite the prattlings of the RM the coin will be worth what gold is worth minimum and worth more as a mule. So for once the collector is on a win win

lol big bag at front is all irish the others are german and commonwealth countries then there are 40 of those yellow plastic medicine tubes with the safety lids 17x120 coin books. and the raws are in a 2 plastic fruit crates . They are mostly asian predominantly India-sri lanka-china-singapore etc. and the other is European coins from just about everywhere lol. See if they were just crappy circulated oddjobs i would sling em in a box and punt the lot out. But they are for the most part in very good order and many are unc. lots of decent dates and rarities double dies overstrikes etc. I just fear getting shot of them for the previous 2 and only auction experiences I had I was royally shafted so it's left me a bit nervous. Plus having Narcolepsy I can only put my time to anything for very short periods like 30 mins and im asleep . So cataloguing and picture taking is such a long task let alone squinting through the scope 2 coins and i'm wiped out lols. But I am sure i'll get the urge one of these days
