Book prices and where they sit. What's she on about now? This is for a superb 1887 Victoria jubilee head silver double florin ARABIC 1 IN THE DATE THE COIN IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION has a slight mark near the date but nothing major IN MY VALUATION BOOK SITS AT A PRICE OF £550 in unc condition My grade is vf+.. 483.347 minted This is for a Victoria 1887 jubilee head silver half crown this is a stunner My grade EF PLUS TO UNC but that's my grade so please view yourself . Although it is a FANTASTIC collector's coin An absolute asset to a fantastic collection this is what collectors call a gem one you really don't want to miss... the coin is in fabulous condition Almost unc but thats my view so please view yourself In my valuation book in unc condition it sits at £450 1, 438.046 minted I like this from the 1887 crown description too: THIS IS AN AUCTION SO WHO WILL START ME IF THERE IS TONE ON MY COINS THEN THE TONE YOU SEE ON MY COINS IS THE TONE THAT IT IS Where's Alan Turing when you need him?
  2. Collecting these is my thing and finding the errors is great fun. Could be but, as you and Chris both say, the jury is out until another/better specimen turns up. Something I would draw your attention to though is the upright bar of both the disputed first L and that of the second. Compare these with that of the E, which is much thicker. If the first L was an E wouldn't the uprights be similar? Obviously, a blocked die might account for the difference, but it is something worth considering. Either way, on the visual evidence as it stands, were you to describe it as 'GIVEIELMVS' I don't think anyone would object.

And still buyers don't question why all her silver, regardless of origin, age, condition, has the same artificial appearance. Some of those which have really been gone to town on are absolutely horrible.

Seeing these listings I'm wondering if someone else is grading at the moment? They're usually pretty accurate. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/British/3394/m.html?item=202734154926&hash=item2f33e5b4ae%3Ag%3AiZ0AAOSwB99dLJWW&_ssn=buckscoins

...may be the face I can't forget The trace of pleasure or regret May be my treasure or the price I have to pay She may be the song that summer sings Maybe the chill that autumn brings Maybe a hundred different things Within the measure of a day She may be the beauty or the beast May be the famine or the feast May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell She may be the mirror of my dreams A smile reflected in a stream She may not be what she may seem Inside her shell - dons shop Er, I'll get me coat...

That rounded edge; lovely. No idea what it is and so looking for information on it, however, in the meantime, would anyone like to buy it for £10,000? The lunatics have taken over the asylum.

What a surprise. The replica gothic crown (stunning tone!!!) was sold and relisted three or four times before she grew tired of it and moved on to something else.

She has form. Scrap metal coins all with the same artificial tone (see Paddy's post) then, every so often, a high end replica coin having been given the same treatment. Seriously, I don't understand how bidders (apart from the shills that is), don't stop to think how someone who peddles all this crap has, every now and then, one or two items supposedly worth so much.

Yup. I still have mine, which my Dad gave me at the time. 'Put that away and keep it lad, it'll be worth a fortune one day.' he said, as we picked at the Vesta Chow Mein Mum had served up on our best Franklin Mint plates...

This from that article. Not working terribly well then, is it. "We invest over £6m each year in state-of-the-art technology to detect shill bidding and other illegal activities. This acts as a strong deterrent to the small minority who attempt to use our site inappropriately but, more than this, it helps us to work with law enforcement agencies to secure successful prosecutions if anyone decides to try their luck."

Plenty of bids from those two left on the 1844 crown and the 1902 Morgan dollar. Quelle surprise. There oughta be a law…..

Several times she states what an honest person she is. Attempting to sell a valuable item she suspects may have been stolen from her local church? Honest? I am reminded of the saying: 'The louder he talked of his honour, the faster we counted the spoons'…..

Excellent points, succinctly made Chris. Re. the Whitman folder in which the 1933 penny was supposedly discovered; here are her notes for the 1911 she has listed. It was removed and is being sold separately because she considers it to be the best coin from the set. WHAT? A bog standard 1911 the best from a set which includes a genuine 1933???!!! Oh, and I see she's adding the weird toning colours to bronze too now. The divilment welling up in me (I really should get out more), I thought I might have a bit of fun with this one, but on attempting to contact her I find I am blocked. Reading the entire revised listing it could be taken to mean she is attempting to sell an item she either suspects is, or knows to be, stolen. Customer service related larks anyone?

She's really gone to town with it on the Morgan dollar and the 1844 crown Paddy. Fakes always readily available.
  24. And how about that duelling scar on the 2d obverse. I didn't know old Georgie had it in him.
