  1. Sorry if i have confused things Terry. Your top picture is BP1898Ba....New variety. Second picture BP1898B.....As it has always been.
  2. Its a bit coincidental Jerry but was only talking to Michael Gouby yesterday about these 1898 Pennies as a couple of forum members know. The picture of this one (my own ) is not in Gouby and now attributed by Michael as BP1898Ab 11 Teeth wide date. The picture of your 1898 is now attributed by Michael is BP1898Ba 10-75 Teeth Bisect and a slightly different font than just 1898B and not 11 Teeth......Although its not 100% clear on your picture Terry has a really good image that hopefully he will share.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

No.Nothing wrong with it ,from the picture it may of had a wash or light clean but the coin is what it is. Remember sometimes coins that were struck in the millions will have part of the dies that become worn and also some parts weakly struck ,this will make the coin appear to have uneven wear. Pete.
  4. I think Jon is right Terry as i used to be looking for them all almost daily. The F/B was not recorded and only quite recently discovered ,so plenty have been sold with the variety not attributed. When the first one sold that was heavily cleaned people maybe were not convinced what it was and sold for £9 LOT 2653 1/9/2013. In the same Auction on the same day 1/9/2013 LOT 2649 sold not attributed. Lots of people ( dont want one) dont look for them or because they are not in a book dont know what to look for. Plenty turn up on ebay though and more common than the other two. http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=Pastresults&searchterm=1858+Penny&searchtype=1 Pete.
  5. A couple from Jack at coopers coins that are both BU in hand.
  6. Another 1915 Recessed ear which although not as good as my best one has only a tiny amount of the tooth missing.

Another one i bought a couple of weeks ago 1915 Recessed ear.
  8. The OBV has just got verd or crap on and quite a common bun penny especially in that grade. It is genuine though.
  9. Yes its genuine 🙂
  10. Any chance of a bigger picture please Eric ?
  11. If you look at the picture and compare the hair with a normal 1865 you will notice its different . These are patterns with a different design which are scarce / rare with low mintages and command a premium.

To see or not to see...

That depends on your eyesight and you need it for Bryan. I like these... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30X-60X-Magnifier-LED-Light-Jeweller-Antique-Eye-Magnifying-Optical-Glass-Loupe/263824335626?hash=item3d6d27e30a:g:occAAOSwfQtbUCy1 Pete.

50p, the actual numbers so far....

Where are those numbers from please Kev,i thought the 1985 seemed low and just read its 3,400,000. Do you know which is right please ?
  19. Yes its definately REV A so either F174 or F176. The Gap / colon does look wider ,however the I of IMP does look to tooth ,would need a clearer picture to be certain i think 🙂 OZ John if the I of IMP points to a tooth its F176 if its to a gap its F174 ,there are other indicators but thats the one i use first. Having another look at the indicators i do think its a F174
  20. Your 1913 looks like a F176 the scarce one. OBV 2.......... I of IMP to tooth ?.
