A nice but not rare 1860 F10 with a large die crack went for £580-80. I don't understand it.
It looks as though I should get my entire collection slabbed before I sell it.
-
Not the greatest photo but I see no trace of a 3.

I think that's a racing certainty, but hopefully they will be produced in such volumes that speculators won't be able to cash in.

That's pathetic if not unexpected.

They're usually pretty quick. Have you received their invoice and paid it ?

Thanks Chris.

Yes, this was a swift addition after they'd sold out. They wisely realised there was a lot more money to be made out of minting a few more sets.
They're still asking silly money on Ebay, though:

Where ? Which channel ?

Ian, is it OK for me to add your splendid pictures to my varieties site (with appropriate accreditation, of course) ?

I would add that Style E has the base of the 7 pointing to either a tooth (with the 5 over a gap) or a gap (with the 5 over a tooth).

Vultures cashing in on the Queen's death. I can just see the headlines - "Last chance to get her final year's coins".
It didn't take them long. Last night I was 5150th in the queue for the Mint website !
-
I see the Royal Mint has sold out and they are appearing on Ebay at £300 !

King George VI reigned for the first four and a half years of my life but I was never really aware. We had a coronation party at Infants' school when I was 5 and Queen Elizabeth has been there ever since. Her passing has affected me more than I ever thought it would.

I still receive their catalogues.

That'll do for me. Thanks Pete (I think it's Pete - we met at DNW a couple of years ago).

Ex-H Deane collection.
I don't know who H Deane was, but he owned some very nice coins and presumably had decided that this coin was a proof. It needs to be seen in hand.
The Baldwins catalogue picture doesn't show the die clash

The Baldwin's catalogue states that "this is undoubtedly a proof" and it sold for £729-28. Ex-H Deane collection.

Blake, you don't appear to have left negative feedback yet ?

Very rare although quite common on the planet Vulcan, I understand.

I was able to search on "penny" successfully. And I eventually found the coin that I'd saved to my cabinet as you describe above, saved within the particular auction. Not at all intuitive but it's there if stick at it. Still very slow, though, on my PC.

I enjoy reading the different viewpoints and evidence but I don't enjoy personal attacks.

Come on guys. Remember this is a Coin Forum and don't get personal. Leave it to Rebecca Vardy and Colleen Rooney.
