1900 Penny .. dot after O in One
secret santa replied to Colin88's topic in Confirmed unlisted Varieties.
why oh why did Freeman have to record F147 ?????????????????? -
Thanks Mike - that was a hell of a bargain.
-
Definitely - yes please. If collectors have further examples of any of the rare pennies shown, I'd appreciate details to further improve evidence of rarity.
-
Mike Have I got that one on my rarest website ? R
-
Thanks Declan, and Pete has just mailed me a copy so Happy Days.
-
Great work Declan. Would you mind if I use your stats on 1913 pennies for my penny varieties site ?

1911 1d die break through date
secret santa replied to coinkat's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Don't recall seeing one but a die break shouldn't be enough to make it a particular variety (IMO) -
Upload pictures here please, not external hosts
secret santa replied to Peckris's topic in Forum technical help and support
I do something very similar - I take high quality pics with a digital SLR and macro lens, store them on my PC and on ONEdrive (cloud) whilst keeping a duplicate set of pics reduced in size by 60% using Photostudio (from 2 or 3 megabytes to <500 Kb) on both for uploading to here or websites. -
1965 Elizabeth II British Crown (Winston Churchill) 1.0.0 (JayBart55)
secret santa replied to Peckris's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Looks like a standard currency issue to me but I'm not an expert. When I took a holiday job in 1965 as a lorry driver's mate, we used to transport antique furniture quite often, and the shop owner used to sometimes tip us a Churchill crown which, considering that Smithfield Market would tip us sixpence, was a small fortune. -

I have decided to sell my spare pennies. I shall put them into auction next year but in the meantime I have created a website with prices should any of you wish to buy them upfront. There should be something for everyone in here. PM me if you wish to buy anything and we can arrange payment (preferably through bank transfer or Paypal). mysparepennies

If you've never seen the genuine one, I doubt it. -
Rare Aquatic 50 pence copies
secret santa replied to Chingford's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Blimey, these fakes are good............................... -
Just had a look at at a picture that Rob put up (of a genuine one I assume) and I can't see any obvious difference from the one mentioned above in the sealed pack. What am I missing ?
-
which of course doesn't help if you've never seen the real thing....... Anyone got a pic of a genuine one ?
-
Help me out here, how can you tell it's a fake ?
-
The interest will be sparked when someone discovers another like yours Zo. At the moment people collect the F147 dot because Freeman (for some reason) decided to formally record it. At the moment, yours is a spurious dot that might even come off when scratched and so will not become "official" until someone comes up with another specimen. Meanwhile, someone may decide to speculate on your coin in the hope that others may appear.

Penny Acquisition of the week
secret santa replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
What a super way to end the year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Teeth and linear circle are all part of the engraved die.
-
All the F26s that I've looked at have the letters of BRITT very close to the linear circle so it's probably a clumsy repair to the linear circle that's impinged on the legend ?
-
Get those pennies up asap !!!!
-
Thanks again to those who have bought some of my spares. Yet again my plans to send them off today has proved over-ambitious ! I have sent off 5 lots today and plan to do most of the rest tomorrow, but the best laid plans and all that. Please be patient. I'll message each of you as your coins get posted. The coin dealers among you have more of my respect now, but then again, you probably have 2 or 3 secretaries to do all the admin........
