    1860 Penny Freeman obverse 1*

Right, so coincidentally you have a coin struck with the same dies that is in much better condition and recognisable as A+b.

Nice 1863 penny - one day only - sensible offers only.

Bernie, let me understand exactly what you're saying. Is it that only coins with reverse b that have that particular die crack and the close, sloping date figure 0 ? Whilst accepting that some reverse b coins have neither the die crack nor the 0 in the same position ?

  5. I've noticed that several people have put up what are ostensibly links to their Onedrives within a post - could this be a way of linking to a dangerous website ? I certainly never click on a spurious link within an email but some unscrupulous hacker might choose to tempt me down this route.

Spot on. But when a second one appears, the hunt is on !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Is this dangerous ?

Thanks Paddy, I'll print this out and have a play.

    Is this dangerous ?

Yes, it worked - generated a meaningless string of characters like yours but seemed to work. Thanks. My next question - if I create such a link, how do I then in the future prevent other people from accessing it if I wish ?

Blakey I've added this and your 1874H 7 over 7 to my rarest penny website - hope you don't mind. Let me know if you'd like the pictures to be attributed to you.

No, it's very typical of this variety - take at look at all the examples on my rarepenny website.

Luckily, I already these 2 varieties (and a calculator to work out the hammer price plus commission).

    Is this dangerous ?

I think that this applies to me.

    Is this dangerous ?

Thanks again. Tell me, how did you obtain this link ? I have my own Onedrive with several files/folders. If I wanted to make a folder available as you have, what do I do ?

    Is this dangerous ?

But then again, when I hover over your onedrive link, the name fills me with dread (it's certainly not something that I'd recognise !)

    Is this dangerous ?

Thanks Paddy - I've never noticed this before as it's quite unobtusive. V useful.

    Pennies High grade.

I'm really surprised at this - I find the book absolutely invaluable for all dates post-Victoria. I suspect that people don't know what they're missing.

All my F91s look like that.

Our friend Lucasz is selling this penny on Ebay, describing it as unrecorded but every 1877 F91 penny that I've seen (including a proof) has this "bar" inside the right side of the O in ONE. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Victoria-1-Penny-1877-Unrecorded-O-over-Sideway-O-Grade-UNC-RARE/332580037835?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D50925%26meid%3Df2cf0482d69a43c2ba507285cd123e3b%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D222873729028%26itm%3D332580037835&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042
  21. Maybe it'll turn out to be less rare than it currently appears but, looking at the die cracks on this one, maybe not that many were struck before the die gave out ?
  22. Michael Gouby's website often illustrates the variations in dates, including double strikes, but he doesn't include this particular example. (see http://www.michael-coins.co.uk/1844_penny.htm) Copper penny collectors may find this interesting/collectable.
  23. Could you please explain how one goes about getting a refund.
  24. Having picked up the rough old BP1874Nn (1874H 7 over 7) above only a couple of weeks ago, Bernie kindly pointed me to a superb example (not described as such) on Baldwin's For Sale list which I snapped up immediately.
