    Beau coin emp.
  3. Here in ireland also having trouble in finding farthing both ireland and GB, in the coin shop most of the coin I observe dont last long maybe tourist purchased them.as sourvenier or small change from thier holiday and carry along with them. The charity, most of local charity from time to time garther collection mostly on shop and mostly small denomination is used on where it goes I dont know.any one who is familiar in eastcost area tesco greystones in the past put a cylinder roughly 3 feet by 1.2 feet dimension donate your all old and foriegn coin for local charity it reached several hundred thousand euro almost 300 thou not sure if it happens it could also happen in the past and to the coin dont know where it end up. Change in life and moving places, before and after the decmalisation farthing as other mentioned already lost its value, mostly I maybe wrong it will be found in the skip, for Im buying worn and circulated penny and half penny in carbooth old folks laugh, even much more younger generation selling coins ireland coins only small denonimation from 1971 to 2000 thier reaction is pretty much desame.Well in every carbooth thier is a skip and those that are moving houses might do the same. cashier vault most of the main offices have a finace dept. and they may have a vault even thier is someone going thier everday they dont check the whole room and corner or a tin can. Hoarder dies and the one who left with the coins neglect and didnt know what to do. on where it goes I dont know. Maybe placed a cylinder and note donate your old farthing for your NHS.
  4. I thougth it was a coin? Its that the original state of it?
  5. Thanks scot for another info. Red no not still standing but those that are already torn down or demoished maybe,Im not into metal detecting and never seen A metal detector hobbyist here in ireland personally, only on TV When they do found a coin they plot it or chart it,It might be a corner stone of acient past,or maybe a public building onced and the coin in there is only few example or rare or proof.and when archelogist dig a foundation they dont used metal detector well what do you get on a foundation who will put things or coins on base of the building most of the artifact are above the foundation, maybe a marker been here and we erected this building the proof is the coin. Well the readers from other countries colonized by GB may know it now they can have a shot but the record and the plot where the coin is found is more helpfull.both acient and modern. maybe celtic or greek. under the foundation not on top.
  6. THANKS EVERY ONE FOR THE INFO. Scott, Thier is another one counting the steps of stairs by 3 if applicable but on the first step 3 coins before you enter a room or a house, still exist in my mothers house.more like spanish dont sure, oro plata mata or nata like ore silver or gold something like that. Geo So there is high probability that other public biulding in 1700 down have a proof, normal struck and first stike sorry I mean first hammered coins in the base of their pillar. Thus other countries like Canada,America,Australia and other countries that was colonies by UK have the same tradition putting coins on the pillar of the new public building on the middle edges, Proof or circulated. For now I will base this tradition why we put coins on the pillar to the european.well GB I know there is an article in clayton wriitten about it and the resources of the expert in this forum now it will suffice. No info on other EU countries if they practice this in the middle ages. About the romans not sure if it originate to them, most of the documentary I saw on TV has one basis on finding what date the building was made that is by coin found on the site when no other artifact is found, but the archeologist,I do rarely see them using metal detector on the site is more likely a last result on the foundation of the biulding since roman coin are in circulation for hundred of years sometimes they cant pin point the date, Well the romans may have used it and other expert may agree that they do, but after watching the program what romans did to us on TV Im having second thought for it maybe another copied practice by romans to other civilazation not barbarian as romans would record it,for I noticed before the roman expand its power and territory the celts are mostly in the major part of europe ,if not celts other civilization but not romans. It will be new if a coin of celts found on thier foundation long ago before the roman did or arrived in thier expanded territory. Gary It could also be eastern may be china, but the countries in far east that have that kind of tradition did any european countries did colononzed them, Phil by spain I think a portion land by british for several years also ducht not sure but encountered it that several European countries control a land, now they are part of Phil. we know
  7. Thanks chris, More like a time capsule,so putting coins on building goes far as 1700, Does monarch put proof coin on those building in 1700. Putting coin on pillar is European or eastern in origin.
  8. Thank you very much, Now Im not confused also the other readers of this forum.about the fantacy coin. It is clear now that GB is not joining EU currency. seeing those coin have a imprint that GB is joining EU in definite time, for the coin is thier ,instead it is a fantasy coin.decieving the buyers and the stand of GB towards EU currency. More likely conditioning effect on seeing this coin on the net. So NO PATTERN FOR GB ON EU CURRENCY THAT IS CLEAR.
  9. Ive seen several design on propose GB coin for EU in several site ,almost thier is new set of pattern for every year that is what my interpretation, So why they are making a pattern? when the answer is that GB is not joining EU and some site I think they are sellingthose pattern. So if someone saw a pattern it means that GB is not joining the EU, not to be interpreted that GB will join EU in proposed or designated time for thier is no agrement or arrangement being made for GB to join EU currency. There is something more I like to ask about the commonwealth, in thier coin they have the face of the queen, Since they are not part of EU like canada and Australia this 2 countries bares the queen face on thier coin, What will happen to the image of the queenn in AUS and CANADA when GB join the EU ? About commonwealth countries of GB are they independent or in the process? Im having difficulty in cutting where the authority of GB ends or not in its commonwealth countries because thier currency have the image of the queen.

    Old Search

To gary I saw an article written about death march, soldier and history, and coin but now I cant access the page even the link in CC I paste.www.qinteraction.com/filam/history.htm you may be right gary and I am wrong ten of thousands of filipino and american soldiers, to have a coin in thier pocket is like japanese dug up a mine of silver, but saw a documentary that a fall of bataan and corrigidor have stock pile of foods could last for several months but the higher authority ratio their men in meger ration.I dont know why I cant access the site you could try by search engine and the link maybe it is my computer or the story on the article itself,FILAM coins is a bargain thou a bitter history for both nation especially in USA considering it is under USA just guessing again on psyche of american, I can be wrong, seldom made a film about if you loss mostly winner film but one film is made I think base on austarlia. about death march. To geordie the article I saw in coinlink was reliving a coin of dead nation a featured coin was one of african nation, have many side but not round,I am wrong on my input sorry. But thanks to teg and geordie for posting an article and picture now I know octagon coin is used in the past.and still using it now. but dont know who first made it and what is the first metal was used.and why 8 side and not round.

Thats new a sourvenier or a touch piece for soldier, I think the soldiers in infamous death march in PHIL. have one coin for each soldier. If it is true dont know where they got this belief carrying coin in battle, inline to the article of the coin of the dead in coinlink, a coin for dead man walking just a speculation.

    Slabbing in Europe

Thanks sly, The comp. exist the london coin offering slab coins by cgs base in GB cannot find the comp. site. thou. To be fair they should list the rooster from top to bottom, thier credentials and thier expertise. If they like they can have a representative a guest or member in this forum, if the forum moderator will allow. To answer question and reason to the readers and members of this forum.simply they have to comfront all critics and querry toe to toe, face to face on how good they are,not only on the number of coins they will sold but also how good is thier action and reason from every question ask.

    Slabbing in Europe

Dying hobby? Thats why the GB govt and british museum encouraging folks in all walks of life to be active in thier heritage that include coin collecting, just heard in the news in the past. Wheter it is a history, numismatic, collector or investor. Yes the poll says it all,why they are making one comp. now.? Dont know about world coin investing, since many problems that the slab comp. facing in USA and the exchage rate is good as 1992. It is timely for me. If the collectors in britain dont agree with the company,Hope other world collector will, for me it depends on how good the comp. and thier staff. As other mentoined GB and US is entirely diff. For me chances are if the price goes up coz of slabbing next will be the investor base in the US buying coins slab in GB. for the source and expert are base in GB.IF THE COMPANY IS RELIABLE. If it fails someone tried it and settle all speculation and querry and time to moved on.in expense of thier pocket.

    Slabbing in Europe

Yes the market, The first comp. will test the water,in comparison to USA the govt. are investing on it. That is yet to be know or find out in GB or europe. They are setting now the outcome is unknown. But the first step is unfolding.

    Slabbing in Europe

Can a citizen of GB petition or recomend a bill to have a nationalised slab comp. And a portion of its profit can go to the govt. like NHS
  19. Thank you ken, Ill do that till next time
  20. proof images and how to identify them is a mystery to me,just pushing luck but possibility in having one is remote. just asking pointers for proof and normal,if budget allow I will buy 1911 normal also 1912 if it is still there, and hope I encounter some unlisted variety,Thank you ken,
  21. Thank you ken,1912 s proof is new to me thanks again for the info. there are books mentioned s after date and s below the hoof of the horse, is this s mark is present only once? but not both s in the reverse of the coin?

    Slabbing in Europe

They are many expert watching the new company,to keep on thier toes, The comp. is for investor cuing and buying coins in the mint, but for me the sum of it all is to the revenue the govt. will have, from the mint to which hands it will end up, the investor can have their slice but the circle of the money will go to the govt. even how many fold or cycle, the revenue is already use for public funding. For me that is the other side of coin collecting, in expense of thier collection for public funds.

    Help Please!

That is a very good thing to hear, a book with good quality picture like other antique book that I looked on book shop, just to look for a coin picture if there is no coin book around, I will buy a book with all modern coin and denomination with good quality picture a must have copy for normal struck, excluding variety you can include the variety if you like,Then published it in one huge volume just like a collection in picture, for I will have a difficult time having one in coins. Loads of cornwall clay to be used for paper gloss and multilayering color printing with base of primary color. Goodluck to all and to chris.
  24. Well replace the tick boxes with images of one known coin in the series in high grade, like EMP have, wonder how many issue to buy to complete the nail images.
  25. One that I observe in most ref. books is the priced guide, since the inclusion of colored picture for better images,As I said didnt see a book in all denominations of coin obv and reverse. It is expensive us author and publisher know, since you have an extra hand, building a site and compiling good quality picture and grade by the help of collectors expert and thier collection, the photogarding you like to materialized is getting nearer. Well I have a copy of your book, but the coin of britain represent only a portion in CCGB most of them are new find and result in auction houses or priced guide. since there are many books in CCGB and amazons that covers the coin of britain. They are not compiled for cost and publishing reason,I dont know if the ref. books is more into price most of them have that. But a book with good quality picture like the compilation of predecimal member or the collection of some one they know,I didnt see anything published, CCGB is not enough to cover the GB coin in one issue that is only my opinion,Maybe CCGB with volume issue per year for modern, victorian, milled or celtic.but the result the failure and success of selling the volume is risky depends on how many will buy. Most of the collector also spend more on books also in coin,It is more on idealistic than a reality for the judge will be the sales and will risk the time, effort and money publishing it. Maybe published it in volume in one time and updated in the future.
