  1. I think we must ALL be having auction syndrome at the moment! I've had to return 2 of the last 5 eBay purchases (vicky 3d & 1901 HC), which is about my yearly quota ordinarily! I don't know what to do with it,there is a dent on his chin that is barely visible on the photo, and the coin itself looks very bright. Benny if you didn't view the coin and the coin is not as described then I believe you can return it, you can with most reputable auction houses!! A dent should be described in the description

    Need A Book

It and other collections are on Colin Cookes site Wise advice...but I still like a paper copy to thumb We still have hard copies for all the collections we have auctioned ;-)
  3. VF strictly speaking, though realistically most dealers would say GVF
  4. Ha no problem and I am always happy to share pictures of anything anyone might want to see
  5. At Coinex I heard that this is definitely going through, the figure I heard was 46 million so I don't know if the offer was revised, but I have heard it on good authority that it will definitely go through!!
  6. I will definitely look into that - thank you!!!
  7. Ok, atached should be the picture, it is not a good one just a quick black and white scan, the chap who does our photograpghy is not in today, but you can at least get an idea of what the coin is like!!! Strictly speaking it is perhaps more VF than GVF
  8. Ok leave it with me I will get a picture on as soon as I can, not done it before on here.
  9. Ha I will have to put it on ebay then ;-) No I have literally just bought it so it isn't on a list or website yet..............................Colin sold it for £400 in 2002!! I would be open to offers ;-)
  10. Hi Azda, That sounds interesting, is there much in the way of many Collectors who collect British coins??
  11. Yes we did ok thank you, certainly worth our while going but in terms of the business we did - it could have just been a one day fair - we mainly did all our business on the Friday!!
  12. I was exhibiting and overall yes it was good. I did mainly all my business on the Friday and although quieter during the period of the "early bird" entrance it really picked up after that!! The Saturday started slowly but after an hour it became extremely busy!! From a dealer point of view the Friday was much better. I haven't done Coinex before I believe it wasnt quite as busy as last year.
  13. Will any forum members be attending Coinex?
  14. Interestingly I have just bought one in purely by coincidence!! 1599/8 mm Anchor with curved flukes (double anchor on reverse) it is GVF and Ex R. Shuttlewood Lot 423 (part of) The original Colin Cooke described it back in 2002 - "must be one of the finest examples extant for this extremely rare coin" Might need to reassess my asking price in light of what these have gone for!!!
  15. I am not sure baldwins would have done any invoices yet because all the staff seemed to be at coinex on Friday and Saturday, I can only assume that is the reason??
  16. To be fair rob I suspect that might me more exciting!!!
  17. Ha that was done yesterday ;-) I am currently at the services half way to London!!!
  18. Peter, I will be exhibiting for the first time ever at coinex this year, I have done the other London shows, I think the main difference with Coinex is that you get more international dealers and collectors, though it will be very interesting!! I will try to give feedback after the show or maybe even during the show if it is that quiet and I am bored ;-)
  19. Gary, thanks send me your email address and I will ensure you receive them in the future
  20. Great find!!!! So even if you had paid £50 to get in you would have still been very much in profit ;-)
  21. Very true!!! Lets hope it isn't a white wash!! Though I am strongly against the £50 early bird entry I think it puts off far too many collectors and only benefits dealers who aren't exhibiting giving them chance to scour the floor before anyone else to get the bargains - not that there will be many of those!!!
  22. Allow me to apologise as well Neil. I unfairly pinned possible blame on you, when Colin talked about a very well known coin dealer based in the North. For my own part I can honestly say that all my personal dealings with you have been nigh on perfect. Ironically enough, I've never rung, only e mailed. No problem whatsoever, obviously I thought the same ;-)
  23. Thanks for all the kind comments and with regard to Colin I hate to see people dissatisfied which is why I apologised before I even knew it wasn't us at fault!!! Paulus with regard to getting all the new stock summarised in one place it is something we are looking at doing because I think it wood be a good idea also!!!! Peter I do have a lot of good stories not sure all would be appropriate on a public forum lol regarding some of the escapades of other dealers ;-)
