Toy Money! Anyone know much about these?

    1. What for, this is the web? 2. I came here to ask the experts..
  2. Have been building up a little pile of toy money pieces that I've found here and there - I wonder if anyone knows much about these? I.e. what they were used for, who made them..when?? They are quite small, the Halfcrown is about the size of a farthing.

    Richard II Penny?

Thanks for replying Yes, it does look like EDWARDWS or EDWARDVIS.. I don't think it will be S.1531? as can't clearly make out the three extra pellets in the 'TAS' quarter..
  4. I am struggling a little with this penny, it looks a bit like Richard II's type, but what about the crosses at the bottom on the reverse side?

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Here's another one, on t'ebay. Hope we can use the word 'wazzock' on here as it's a wazzock what can't grade very well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-1797-farthing-coin-EXTRA-FINE-ALMOST-UNCIRCULATED-EXCELLENT-coin-/280758984397?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item415e8a1ecd
  8. My friend also has this really lovely Half Rupee. Hard to find too much info on this either, but these are somewhat scarcer than the full Rupees. Any ideas as to grade, value etc?? It doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned and retains some original lustre, I am going to give it an XF! Coin of the British Raj, so therefore a British coin!

    Cartwheel snuffbox?

As a 'coin' I'd have valued it more like a tenner, owing to grade (Vg)?... in any case, are there two of them stuck together? Thanks for letting me know it was a vesta case for keeping matches, I will look into this.
  10. I have here a snuff box or "smuggler's twopence" that belongs to a friend who is interested in knowing anything of interest about it? What is it's value, and what would have this have been used for? I have tried researching this on the internet but have not found one quite similar. The grade is not too good, so I haven't though much of it in terms of value.
