    How much?

WHOW! That is nice!!! Thank you! SOLD! Keep it for me please, I need to buy a banknote album from you, but I have to check the number of pages I need and the type. I am not sure if I will be comming, when is it esactly? It will depend a bit on how I manage to sleep that night and how I feel fisically.

  5. As I have seen a thread of someone tired of Ebay, here I go. No one has any intention of competing with Ebay, and whoever has is mad, but here is a free alternative where you can put your items for sale. I would suggest that if you have coins that Chris deals with you talk to him first as better than a dealer no one can help you, but if you have anything that is of no interest to him and or any other non-coins related items, then come along: If there is anything you would want to see, may be a new category or something else, please let me know, I will be more than happy to help. It is still in its infancy and for now it’s completely free. If in the future we need to move to better more expensive servers and we need to charge something to cover costs, then we will only charge for sale fees, if you don’t sell, you don’t pay anything. For now I am waiting for you guys to use it for some auctions, once there are a number of auctions going I will be looking to do some advertising in google and the like to attract buyers. If you find any bugs or anything, please let me know so we fix them ASAP. Thank you!

    GCSE Results

Yes, I don't know what career I want yet either, but then I'm only 49. I think I'm working my way to being a bum. Gradually downsized from research scientist to artist to admin assistant and now working in a small care home. Eventually I aim to do something really useful, like hanging out at the beach, practising my spitting.... I find coin collecting's fine but just a tad stressful... O like your philosophy!

    old coin?

Franny, a good way would be registering and showing a pic of it, so some of the experts around can gie you some guidance on its value.

    1909 Penny

As you can see there was a reason why I could not see it in this one. I have finally hooked up my scanner to have a look at this penny I mentioned to find out that it didn't really matter, as it is too worn to be able to see if the 1 is above or to the right of the tooth... Oh well. Edit: and I just realiced of what a poor quality my scaner is...
  12. My physio has givem me a few coins that his grand mother is keeping to know the value of them, I have used GBCC 2006 to see the value of them, but I have found a problem with the coin mentioned in the topic. In the book there are 2 different examples, "'1' right of tooth" and "'1' is directly above tooth', now, does anyone have a pic of both cases so I can compare and differenciate? I don't know what the "tooth" means... so any explanation would be apreciated, thanks!

    1909 Penny

Thank you very much to all, now I understand what the "tooth" means. I will have to check this one with lots of magnification, but I am not user even if it has any "tooth" left! It is not in that great condition.

Had to let you know, I am happy, we just reached 70 registered users in AuctionMonster.net!
  16. As there are lots of experts here I wanted to know your opinion. I just recieved this 2d from 1797 that I bought, I was wondering, do you think I paid too much? Thanks.
  17. I though I had paid it's price, and I am over the moon about getting this one. I really wanted one example in my colection, and now I got it. It is the first I see in person too, I was shocked at its thickness, imagine us carring that short of loose change in our pockets! Pickpocketing would go down dramatically as if they robbed you, first, you would certainly notice, and second they could not run away because of the weight!
  18. My uncle gave me a bag of world coins and envelope full of banknotes that he had collected when he was a seaman around the world... some must have been passed down to him as they where fromt eh Spanish Civil War (1936-39). Originally I kept them and every weekend I would take them out and play with them, look at them, short them out and put them back in the bag. When I grew and had no time for it they where left in that bag for around 10-15 years. Eventually, around 15 or so years after they where given to me I found Chris and Predecimal and that made me start collection a little more seriously, got some albums, put some kind of order in some, etc... Today, I have a couple of Numismatic sites in Spanish and auctionmonster.net where to buy and sell mainly coins and banknotes.

    don't know where to start

Well, the first step, I think, is to decide where your interest lies. For that you need knowledge, you can aquire it in forums like this one, and with books and other coins web sites. If what you are mainly interested is Great Britain, the best place to start is by looking at the book "Collectors' Coins GB 2006" published by our own Chris and that you can buy for littel over a fiver here. Remember, any time spent in gaining knowledge is worth it.
