    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Came across this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Victorian-Bun-Head-Penny-1862-obv-6-Rev-G-In-Extremely-Fine-Condition-e62/323857783544?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D2d70540512a347c8a07d3a94aab1fced%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D14%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D233525347252%26itm%3D323857783544%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3Aa15dbee2-65b6-11ea-98d1-74dbd1804474|parentrq%3Ad790f1401700aa6a280a9f3affe3f6c1|iid%3A1 Looks really dodgy to me. Wear looks suspicious - lighthouse EF, ship maybe an F. The rest not even F imo.
  2. What seemed to be a VF penny - about EF 1892 Penny snagged today. Pleased 'Honi' is still visible to the eye & just about make out lighthouse bricks - patchy, but they are slight (provided I wear my glasses). Chuffed to bits with it.

    1843 half farthing

Done it. False alarm!. 😥 Blooming eyesight!

    1843 half farthing

Sorry about the crap photos. Am trying to get this done. App keeps crashing at the moment. Installing a another photo app.
  5. Appears to be an 'E' over 'N' in Regina. Having checked coin yearbook, there is no reference to this except for the 1844 half farthing. Has anyone come across any? Unfortunately, my camera is not capable of taking extreme close ups 😕

Hmmm, now why did I immediately think of rudolph the gold nose reindeer?

I am not that keen on it either. I must admit, I did get a couple of BU and a single Silver proof coin, merely from a historical event point of view, but that's about it. I don't know why, but any coin with QEII head really is off putting for me. Maybe I am just weird.

I completely agree. Londoncoins are one of the worst for it. I am all for making a few pounds, but trying it on with newly released coins is just abit idiotic.

I have to ask what is the point?. The most hideous coin design I have seen. You'd have to wonder where they get their designers from. Sorry, but an image of a car, a 'saying' simply don't cut it. Maybe a few baddies - Jaws, Goldfinger and a witchdoctor might have helped. Rant over.

1892 penny - Genuine or not?

I am sure I will get to that stage eventually with the rarer ones. I have my eyes on a couple of rarish coins at the moment, but it comes down to price though. I really do need pre vicky coins also. Harder to come by at the moment, there's plenty of time.

1892 penny - Genuine or not?

Bigger image when clicked on. I am thinking almost VF. (had the coin grading book which was recommended - huge help and the best book I bought).

1892 penny - Genuine or not?

Here is the other side. The black mark from the eye to the coin edge reminds me of flux burn. That makes me suspicious.
  13. Come across this but I am in two minds. It looks genuine, but I have my suspicions. What do others think?
  14. Done without using flash this time, and seem better in natural light I think. Not too sure what grade it is. Ordered the coin grading book, which should help massively.
  15. I will try. My phone has a poor camera in it. I will have another stab at it.
