    New Pope and all that...

You do have to think though that he was a deserter in the war...but nethertheless, I do agree with the two last parts of Oli's post...

That is from what I heard about ten or fifteen minutes ago on the BBC news...I doubt that they would get it wrong... hmm...maybe BBC has got it wrong then...Wikipedia also says that his last Work was Unterwegs zu Jesus Christus, Augsburg 2003. ...

    New Pope and all that...

Quite a right-winger it seems - He published a book in Germany last week including his strongly right-wing views...

    New Pope and all that...

Well, the new Pope has been elected: Benedict XVI, former Archbishop of Munich, and then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. He was chosen on the third round of votes by the 115 cardinals meeting to select Pope John Paul II's successor. BBC News

What coin books do you take with you Chris?...I must try and listen to another of your shows, do you know when your next slot is?
  7. Any pictures...coins with no date are usually quite hard to date...could be 1672 (BMC 520) where the O seperated from the tie ribbon...

    New Pope and all that...

St. Simplicius (468-83), Blessed Victor III, and Blessed Gregory X (1271-76) are the ones who worry me...imagine having a Pope Blessed Vicor in the 21st Century... (1700th Post )
  9. I noticed this too...not very convincing to me at the moment...
  10. It is definately a Third Farthing due to the uneven line under britannia...

    New Pope and all that...

Click here for a list of all the popes... ...and when was the last Pope James, or Jacob as such...
  12. Go to where ever the picture is located on your computer, right click on the image and click 'edit' (preferably with Microsoft Paint). Then click 'File', 'Save As', and save it as a 'Jpg' image. You could alternatively go to a website such as photobucket.com, upload the picture there and give us a link to it.
  13. Looks like a spade guinea token to me...(do not go by my judgement though as I am not positive).

    Hallelujah

Hallelujah indeed...I agree with you that it is anoying having to "trawl through loads of rubbish!" Although I would prefer to view the coins on eBay in houses (Hanover, Sax-Coberg Gotha etc...)

  16. Yes it does...but what other coin could it be?...maybe the farthing was flatened a little in order to merge with the threepence.
  17. Nice to see that you are still with us Sylvester...how is your collection of Pocket Watches going?
  18. I would keep it as a token if I were you...or you could just sell it on ebay - I am sure there are collectors of this sort. May I ask out of curiousity, what date is the farthing?
  19. It is an 1897 Threepence. We will need more information to value it, condition etc...

    Hobbies, Other Interests

Another hobby that I have is Genealogy (researching family trees etc...). Today I found out that my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather was called Stephen Weston, and married my Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Field on 11th October 1789

    Quiet lately

    I'm still here
  24. I've just found a token (presumably) within my collection that I know nothing about. It is silver in colour, and has a hole in the middle with 3D P E on one side, and VALUE IN KIND ONLY on the other side... Any ideas of where it originates from?
