General Elections
Master Jmd replied to mitch91's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Our school is running a 'mock election' as many schools do each time an election occurs, out of our year, only two people want labour to win, and it is infact the lib dems with the majority in our school. I think that the labour and conservative parties will have quite a shock in four or five years time. In 1997, Labour won the election due to the many students that they had won over. I am not sure, however, if 'won over' is the correct terminology as I think that many students (especially the sixth-formers in our school) only wanted to change from Conservative because they have never really experienced a non-conservative government. And I believe that, maybe not this election, but quite cirtainly next election, many people will be 'bored' of the labour government and vote otherwise. Well I hope that we can "wipe the smile of Blair's face" this election, but I doubt it - opinion polls arn't exactly helping conservatives or lib dems. Only three days to go now... -
September is fine for me as I will be able to get the rest of the prices done and dusted during the summer holidays. And yes, I am doing the coppers.

I take it from this that there is no real rush to get piced finished for next month or something then? Because due to coursework (mainly ICT) I have had no time to get everything finished (still need to do most William III to George II stuff)...? Also, who can I ask for bmc. numbers? Chris?

It is good to see that Rotographic Publishing is put to a use other than collectables. The book sounds mysterious...

I know for sure that in 2001 (when I started at SGS), our school did not have bromcoms and used the /\/\/\/\/\/\ format. Now all teachers have a bromcom register, but they still do have the book registers incase the bromcoms do not work properly (which, sorry chris, they don't always!). We also have interactive whiteboards (or at least did, until some darn twonks went and stole most of them from nearly all the schools in the area). -

This is truly a shock. As soon as I read the "Colin Cooke", my mood instantly changed. He was a great numismatist and an inspiration to us all. I am sure he will be remembered for many many years to come.

General Elections

In my opinion that would be a wasted vote. What chance is there that voting UKIP will win them enough seats to win the election...If you want a change, voting conservative or lib dems would at least give a chance of labour loosing in this election...just an opinion though. -
And do you have that much money to spare? It is quite lovely...the detail is fabulous

Tricky i'd say, it looks nice, but as you say that toning lets it down a bit...I think I will have to agree with chris on this one, but I do not have any books at hand atm, so it really depends on its value.

Hmm...tried it again (like sylvester, rethinking some of my answers), and I got this: Your actual outcome: Labour -32 Conservative 15 Liberal Democrat -5 UK Independence Party 19 Green 16 So there you go...still UKIP...but I would still vote Conservative because otherwise it is practicaly giving labour the victory... Where did your test go sylvester (the one that said if you were right-wing etc...)? -

Interesting: Who should I vote for? Your expected outcome: Conservative Your actual outcome: Labour -30 Conservative 18 Liberal Democrat 0 UK Independence Party 20 Green 13 You should vote: UK Independence Party UKIP's primary focus is on Europe, where the party is strongly against joining both the EU constitution and the Euro. UKIP is also firmly in favour of limiting immigration. The party does not take a clear line on some other policy issues, but supports scrapping university tuition fees; it is strongly against income tax rises and favour reducing fuel duty. And unexpected... -

Slough's candidates are: Sheila Gunn Conservative Geoff Howard UK Independence Party Paul Janik Independent Ajaz Khan Respect-Unity Coalition Fiona Mactaggart Labour Thomas McCann Liberal Democrat David Wood Green It is Labour that has been in for the last few years, and by 2001's results, it does not look as though it will change for a few years... -
Would have been so much better with punctuation. Indeed, but yes, good idea Mitch...

Conservatives still. I agree with Sylvester that "I will never vote Labour as long as Blair is leading it. "Education, education, education..." then he goes and trebles university entry fees". Oh, and well done on your 2200th post Sylv -
