Stuff to Make Us Laugh

"Edward's doing very well - he still insists on facing the wrong way, so he misses a lot of football on the telly, but the American woman who hangs around describes it for him..." -
Next time he'll roll it in glitter....

Is that wax indicative of someone wanting to make a cast copy? If it is, then the copy will have faults where the wax as left on the coin....maybe?

1964 Penny -What Do You think?
blakeyboy replied to VickySilver's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
You're just jealous that me and Richard got in before you..... Or is my reaction based on a bottle of Macallan and Wayne Shorter's 'Speak no Evil'. from 1965,....a dangerous combination.....? -
1964 Penny -What Do You think?

I went out with her..... -
Thanks Pete- I really wasn't sure from the pictures I had, so I figured it was worth the gamble- all in, £32. I paced up and down for a few days....and lo! Once again, you can't trust photographs that well- it's a _much_ better colour, with better features, and all together more pleasing than I thought. The prices of low grade ones is getting a bit daft lately- there's one for sale I saw that's over a hundred- one of three that went from me via you, I believe- the seller is asking what an F76 should be up for.....everyone is scared of not being able to afford to live, so are punting stuff out for crazy hopeful figures.... Mind you, the way things are at the moment, can you blame them?

Just had this arrive- I wasn't sure it was when I bought it- bad picture , but it was very cheap....

Forget what date, forget the reverse, - to me, not a copper collector, that reverse is the most pleasing one I have ever seen. Quite a thing of beauty.

"Go and tell your Master that if he gives us food and shelter for the night he can join us in our quest for an 1827 penny" "Well, I'll ask him, but I don't think he'll be very keen - he's already got one. you see..." "What????"

What what what what what???!!??? ( For all you F, M & B fans out there )

'Stunning' sums it up. It's stunning for an 1874, but it's a f69!!! -

Sorry, I couldn't resist- a bit of a red flag.....

This is horrible news. How would anyone expect to be able to sell the coins, unless they already have someone who buys the result of a robbery?

Time this was wheeled out again, I feel. It is my favourite, and just sums it up for me, sadly. -
My god what did they spend it all on ? Most folks of that era lived quite frugally as they lived through the war years - bet they had a lovely garden and nice holidays !! Exactly!! When we cleared the house, we found fifteen potato peelers in the kitchen!! I mean the utensils, not hired staff:-)

Oops- I didn't mean to infer that Mike is a 'worn example'. Just thought I should make this clear!
-
I just like the silence that results just after pointing out the King's lack of clothes.....
-
Ah...knew it was someone on here... Oh- did anyone get penny folder before Xmas that had a strangely good 1919KN in it?
-
I maybe see one very couple of years. Mike tipped me off about the last one- a worn example, but clear.
