Members of this Forum may be interested in a link to a PDF of the following article in the British Numismatic Journal (BNJ) which has just been released from the usual 3 year embargo for BNS members only. Another that focuses on Early Obverse Beaded Border Pennies of 1860 is below it: Paul M. Holland, The 1860 Bronze Recoinage of Pennies BNJ vol. 88 (2018), 149-174. https://www.britnumsoc.org/images/PDFs/BNJ_2018/09_Holland_1853_3rd.pdf All other BNJ articles published from 1903-2018 are available at the British Numismatic Society’s website: http://www.britnumsoc.org/ Also, membership is encouraged by special student and new member rates, with all members receiving a large (A4 format) archival quality hardbound journal annually. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2022! InforaPenny

I've come back to collecting early milled coins after a break of a few years. I have a very nice 1989 William & Mary Half Crown with a couple of errors. The one that interests me, is the error in the spelling of GVLIELMVS where the E has its top missing. This is listed in my only Spinks catalogue of 2006 on page 328 but does not appear in the latest edition as confirmed by a friend ( I don't have a recent Spinks) Anyone got any thoughts on this please?

I don't usually get into errors of this sort, but I can confirm it is not mentioned in my 2018 Spink. No idea when it dropped out. I also checked my copy of ESC - 6th edition 2015 - and it is not mentioned there as far as I can see. Not sure if it was just regarded as die-fill and so not worthy of a separate mention?

On my market stall, I have occasionally sold one or two to collectors of these things, but as yet the maximum they will give is.... £1!

Did anyone know there is a racecourse called sha tin - I presume they never clean up after the horses with a name like that

I picked this one up as an unidentified hammered a couple of weeks ago. Obverse: HEИRICVS.R/EX Reverse: +HALLI.OИ.RVLA Same dies as Brand1020. It was very cheap for a full Rhuddlan in any condition (judging by recent auction prices where I've missed out on a couple) so I don't think anyone else spotted it.
