It is with great sadness that
I must announce the coins listed on this page and the Choice Crowns page as being unavailable due to the
sudden death of my associate Mr Rosner in America who owned the coins and
commissioned me sell them to a European audience.
I will keep the coins listed here
for reference at the moment and update this paragraph with any news on the
situation.
These unfortunate
circumstances do not affect the other coins on this site.
Listed on this page are some choice British coins including very rare examples and a superb selection of high grade Silver material. They are often far better than the usual 'Uncirculated' coin and are priced accordingly.
The coins listed Below are Threepences to Half Crowns. The grades are shown in both US and UK format (where applicable). What assurances do I offer regarding all buying and selling of items through this website? Click here.
1893 Jubilee Threepence - Choice UNC
S-3931, ESC 2103. R2 Very Rare. Original lustre beneath dark toning mixed with gorgeous streaks of iridescent reds, greens and blues. The surfaces are essentially unmarked. Interestingly, differs from the Maundy 3d of 1893 as the Jubilee issue was halted prior to the distribution that year. A very rare and beautiful little gem.
£210.00
1817 Shilling
Choice UNC
S-3790, ESC 1232. Lovely light golden orange iridescent toning on the obverse and an essentially untoned and lustrous reverse. Well struck. Very clean surfaces and no rim problems. Choice and attractive.
£65.00
1862 Shilling
nEF/EF
S-3904, ESC 1310.R2 Very Rare. Re-toning over an old cleaning which has resulted in light hairlines. Still, a very rare coin in high grade. Struck from worn dies resulting in some interesting die cracks on both sides. Aside from the hairlines, no surface or rim problems. A very presentable example.
£75.00
1905 Shilling VF
S-3982, ESC 1414. R2 Very Rare. Nice grade for this low mintage (488,290) issue. Nice even wear and virtually perfect rims. No major marks. Difficult to come by in this condition and Rayner notes that this issue is probably R3 in EF or better.
£145.00
1911 Shilling
Proof FDC
S-4013, ESC 1421. Scarce. Incredibly dazzling proof brilliance practically jumps off the pristine surfaces. A trace of golden toning can be seen in the lettering at 8:00 and 11:00 on the obverse, otherwise the coin is pure white. Very strong strike. Surely one of the finest of the 6007 minted.
£50.00
1903 Florin GEF
S-3981, ESC 921. Scarce. Untoned with nice original lustre. Very little wear on the well struck surfaces. Only a few light contact marks on either side. An excellent example of this popular and scarce (in this condition) date.
£110.00
1924 Florin GEF
S-4022, ESC 943. Scarce. Soft original luster shines through the light golden brown toning on the obverse. The reverse is primarily untoned. Wear is visible only on the highest design elements. Just a few very minor contact marks. The rims are flawless. A very pleasing example of this much better date.
£40.00
1931 Florin UNC
S-4038, ESC 951. Scarce. Choice example which features very flashy mint luster. Good strike and nearly perfect rims. Reverse is free from contact marks while the obverse has but a few minor marks. Very nice.
£20.00
1818 Halfcrown UNC
S-3789, ESC 621. Magnificently toned example of this popular type. Mostly white centers surrounded by intense, electric blues, oranges and purples. No wear but struck from a worn and rusted obverse die which has resulted in numerous small die cracks and a die rust area between the "OR" of "George" and the bust. Rim bumps at 9:00 on the obverse and 1:00 on the reverse plus a smaller one at 9:30 on the obverse. Despite the striking "problems", often seen on these, this is an indescribably beautiful coin.
£270.00
1887 Jubilee Halfcrown UNC
S-3924, ESC 719. Substantial lustre covers the predominantly untoned surfaces. A delicate very light golden toning is forming over the whole. The devices are remarkably devoid of contact marks (notice Her Majesty's pristine cheek) and just a few marks in the obverse field keep this lovely coin from "gem" status. Minor edge knock at 6:30 on the reverse. Although a very common coin even in true Uncirculated, this example is quite choice and considerably more appealing than the usually encountered Jubilee half crown.
£60.00
1906 Halfcrown UNC
S-3980, ESC 751. Scarce. Untoned and displaying strong original lustre. Well struck. Scattered contact marks in the obverse field while the reverse is nearly choice. Possibly rare in this condition. A very nice example of this highly prized type.
£300.00
1909 Halfcrown EF
S-3980, ESC 754. Rare. Soft original lustre. Golden brown toning just beginning to form at the rims and on His Majesty's bust. Very little wear. Well struck. All lions' faces show excellent detail. Contact marks consistent with the grade and none are of a serious nature. A few microscopic rim nicks mentioned for accuracy. A very sound and solid Extremely Fine example of this difficult date.
£220.00
1918 Halfcrown Choice
UNC
S-4011, ESC 765. Blast white original lustre. Well struck. Just a few minor contact marks on the obverse. Reverse is very clean. Excellent eye appeal.
